We're committed to bringing the same level of technical excellence and operational rigor that drives Fortune 50 companies to the landscaping industry, making professional yard care accessible and reliable for everyone.
Skape was founded by Ryan Napolitano, a U.S. Navy veteran and Columbia University Computer Science graduate. After nearly four years of service, Ryan carried the discipline, resilience, and ownership mindset he built in the military into the tech world — eventually becoming a Lead Software Engineer at a Fortune 50 company, where he architected platforms used by 150+ engineers and millions of users.
But the idea for Skape started on Long Island, where Ryan grew up. He watched homeowners struggle to find reliable landscapers, while smaller landscaping companies had no platform to grow their business. The $130 billion landscaping industry was still stuck in the analog age — phone calls, cash payments, no transparency.
Ryan taught himself app development at Columbia, building clones of Uber, Twitter, and Instagram before channeling everything into Skape. The vision: bring the on-demand model to landscaping. Instant booking, real-time tracking, fair pricing, and a real platform for hardworking landscapers to build their own businesses on their own terms.
“It's not about the fall — it's about the comeback. I failed early, enlisted, rebuilt myself, and now I'm building something that can change an industry.”
